Bullying Unit by Sonja Gage
Introduction to the Unit:
My unit is called Bullying and is intended to be taught in a 2/3 multi-grade classroom. There are five lessons within this unit: What is Bullying?, How Does Race Relate to Bullying?, How Does Bullying Make Those Being Bullied Feel?, The Bully’s Perspective, and How To Prevent Bullying & Bullying PSAs.
These five lessons address the following essential questions:
The guiding questions for the unit are:
I chose the topic of bullying because it has been an issue in my practicum class this semester. Although I am currently working in a kindergarten classroom, I believe that bullying is a topic that can be discussed in all grade levels.
A unit focusing on conflict resolution will follow this unit.
*Beth, I chose to not do the additional component, since you allowed me to either skip that or skip one lesson because I completed my three individual projects early.

- How can we make everyone feel safe and cared for?

- Why are differences important?
- How does bullying make those being bullied feel?
- Who can help us when we are being bullied?

- How does the bully feel?
- Why do we need to help the bully too?

- Why should the bully’s point of view be talked about?.
